Holiday Movies Escape Room - 2022
Need an activity to do before the winter break?
Welcome to From the Teacher’s Desk, where we take turns further reflecting on our episodes and applications to the classroom.
As teachers, we’ve always looked for ways to bring media into our classrooms for purposes beyond entertainment. Over the course of the podcast and on the blog, we have discussed many ways that we have successfully done this.
But movie clips are also a great way to teach lessons, and during this holiday season, we have prepared a Movie Escape Room for your students to be used over the next couple of weeks as you wind down to winter break.
You can find the link to the website here.
We have also prepared an answer sheet and answer key for you to use with your students to track their progress. However, we highly recommend not using this assignment for a grade. Let this be a fun review activity that tests their knowledge and possibly teaches them something new.
You can access the PDF of this worksheet and answer key here.
And please share this with any teacher friends whose students would enjoy this.
Note: we are fully aware that this may not be an activity that works in every school, particularly in diverse populations where the majority of your students celebrate different holidays and may struggle with typical holiday celebrations. We do plan to create future activities that will look beyond white-centered Christmas media and we continue to look for more holiday movie diversity.
