Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown - There was so much to take from her latest book, but I feel like this quote sums up my English teacher thoughts:
”What does it mean if the vastness of human emotion and experience can only be expressed as mad, sad, or happy?” In all facets of life, language matters. Brene Brown’s work continues to make me a better person, mother, and teacher.George Carlin’s American Dream on HBO - If I’m being honest, George Carlin was often too crass for me, but his open and honest assessment of the world around him also made him a perfect comic for an AP Language teacher to study. This documentary helps to show how attuned he was to everything in politics and culture and highlights how skilled he was at understanding and using the English language.
Under the Banner of Heaven on Hulu - I read Jon Krakauer’s book years ago and Hulu continues to successfully bring the page to the screen. If you have read the book, I highly recommend it.

Here’s to Us, by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera - Two amazing YA authors coming back together for a sequel to their original queer love story What If It’s Us? Fully indulgent and the best way to start summer!
I Kissed Shara Wheeler, by Casey McQuiston - I ADORE this author, and this was her first venture into the YA realm. Very fun and beautifully thought-provoking.
Greek on Hulu - This is 100% a rerun show from the days of ABC Family. But with a little one at home, this is the perfect sort of mindless love letter to college, with a few small life lessons along the way :)
What Else Have We Been Up To? 💻
We were thrilled to be guests on the Ed on Purpose Podcast. We had such a long conversation that they split it up into two episodes. You can access those episodes here.
What Is Coming Up Next? 🏕️
June 8 we will launch a series of blog posts looking back at episodes from Season 2 and discovering practical applications for the classroom. We are so excited to see how this will grow and develop over the next season as we work to build community here.
Looking forward to what’s ahead!
