Yeah, I was able to go to an early screening of Joker and Todd Phillips said that he followed the hero's journey right up until the end. For him, it was that Arthur didn't answer the final call to adventure. He rejected it and that's why it happens the way it does.
As to the question of Obi-wan not meeting Vader until A New Hope, Vader in that movie doesn't actually say when he saw him last. He say something like "Something I haven't felt since..." then just walks off.
I agree. I think the window is pretty open for the face-off during the last episode. I truly loved the last episode in the series. It hit all of the right notes. Thank you for listening!
I actually haven't seen Obi-Wan yet but I knew the context enough and had people talking about it to know what was going on. More of a Star Trek fan since they have a more positive view of humanity.
I liked a couple of the movies, but I'm still generally a Star Wars fan. Although I totally understand what you are saying about the positive view of humanity. Star Trek was always ahead of its time.
I get the appeal of Star Wars, but I was never a fan of western movies and Star Wars is a giant space western opera. Funny enough though, my favourite Star Trek series is Deep Space Nine which is basically a western style series. Very morally grey in its approach to things.
